👑 "Directed" Queen - Elizabeth (Isabella) de Bourbon, Princess of France, who had the title of Madame Royal, Queen of Spain (1602-1644) before marriage)
She was considered one of the most beautiful princesses of their time, the Spanish people called her "desirable."
On November 22, 1602, in the castle of Fontainebleau, Korolev Maria Medici, the wife of Henry IV, made her second child. Unfortunately, it was a girl, and she was given the name Elizabeth. Maria Medici was always strange and now remained true to herself - she stated that she wanted to have only sons, and that the little princess would be best drowned. I do not know how much this historical joke is, but how true, but in any case, he conveys the spiritual qualities of the queen of France more than truthfully.
Henry, not as an example of his wife, was a loving father, rejoiced at any of his child (and not very much to his own) and reassured Maria with a bright political thought that princesses were needed in order to make the queen out of them. But the most attached to the little princess her brother, Dofin Louis. There was only a year between the children.
Elizabeth was baptized on November 14, 1606 in the oval courtyard of Fontainebleau Castle, along with her older brother Louis and younger sister Christina. The godfather of the princess was to become the king of England Jacob I, but he could not send his representative at the ceremony due to disagreements with Pope. And Elizabeth’s godfather became the ruler of the Spanish Netherlands-Infanta Isabella-Klara-Evgenia, who was represented by the heroine of the novel by Dumas “Two Diana”, the illegitimate daughter of the king of France Henry II, Diana French, the Duchess of Angulamskaya.
After the murder of Henry IV in 1610, Louis and Elizabeth come closer even more, as in fact they remain orphans.
Contemporaries described little Elizabeth as a charming, lovely girl, emphasizing her thoughtfulness and kindness. She will retain these features until the end of her days.
On August 25, 1612, a marriage contract was signed in the Louvre to strengthen the connections between France and Spain. Two princesses were supposed to be the guarantee - Louis XIII had to take Anna Maurisia Austrian, the daughter of King Philip of the III Spanish and Margarita of Austrian; And Elizabeth was given for the son of Philip III, also Philip.
The exchange of princesses occurred on a tiny phenomenon of the island in the middle of the Bidassa River, on the border of France and Spain. This historical moment, however, in a free presentation, captured Rubens, which quite often performed diplomatic orders. From this moment, Elizabeth is becoming Isabella.
The farewell of Louis and Isabella was heavy. If you believe the eyewitnesses, the night on November 25, Louis spent the sister in the room, where two, in essence, cried until the morning. To the border, the new infanta of Spain Louis escorted one. They did not see each other anymore.
For a long time, the marriage of Elizabeth and Philip was formal.
After the death of Philip III in 1621 (the king burned by the fireplace) his son, Philip Asturian, became Philip IV, and Elizabeth became the Queen of Spain.
Isabella was not particularly happy in marriage (at least such a conclusion can be drawn from hints in her letters to her brother). She gave birth to her first child in 1621, 6 years later, when she was 19, and her husband was only 16 years old.
Philip IV was not fidelity: he cheated on the queen with numerous mistresses, from whom he had 30 bastards.
But the noble caballery also showed rare ingenuity in order to achieve the location of the beautiful and smart queen. One Spanish Grand, in whose house the queen once stopped during the trip, settled her own home for the pleasure of taking Isabella out of the fire on her arms. Nevertheless, despite his frequent betrayals, Philip respected and loved the queen, listened to her advice. This allowed Isabella at a critical moment for the country, to stand at the head of a conspiracy directed against the omnipotent minister Philip IV Count-House of Olivarez.
Thanks to her beauty, mind and spiritual nobility, Isabella won the love of proud Spaniards. She was admired by both the grands and ordinary people. She loved the theater, accepted poets and playwrights of that time, well versed in the visual arts and literature.
The iconography of adult Isabella is not too extensive. Her court painter, Diego Velazquez, will complain that for the horse portrait, the queen found only one and a half session for him.
But, although the queen did not like to pose, dozens of her portrait images made by such famous artists as Velazquez, Rubens, Pork and others have been preserved.
For 29 years of the marriage, Elizabeth was pregnant 12 times, 8 of her children were born alive, but only two experienced infancy - Valtasar Karl and Maria Teresa, the future queen of France. This was probably due to the dissolving lifestyle of Philip, who was ill with various sexually transmitted diseases.
Elizabeth died on October 6, 1644, in the Alkasar Palace in Madrid, at the age of 42, shortly after the 12th pregnancy, which ended with a miscarriage.
