 🖌️🎨 Moretto da Brescia (Alessandro Bonvicino; Alessandro Bonvicino, or Buonvicino (Italian: Alessandro Bonvicino), known by the nickname Moretto (Little Blackamoor (Italian, II Moretto); 1490/1498-1554) - Italian artist, worked in Brescia and Venice.
His teacher was Fioravante Ferramola (according to other sources - Vincenzo Foppa, among his mentors are also mentioned Titian, Jacopo Palma and Girolamo Romanino). Both of his brothers - Pietro and Jacopo - also became artists.
In 1521, together with Romanino, he painted the Sacramento Chapel of the Brescia Cathedral, in 1522-1524 he worked in Padua. He also had joint works with Lorenzo Lotto and Floriano Ferramola.
His most famous painting is Saint Giustina with a Donor and a Unicorn, located in the Vienna Museum of Art History (also attributed to Pordenone). He painted several portraits of the famous courtesan Tullia d'Aragona, including in the guise of Salome (Pinacotheca in Brescia). Moretto's works are in museums in Frankfurt, Berlin, London, Budapest, New York, Los Angeles, etc.
Among Moretto's students was the famous portraitist Giambattista Moroni.
