 🖌️🎨Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867) was a French artist, painter and graphic artist, and the recognized leader of European academicism in the 19th century.

He received both an art and music education, and studied in the studio of Jacques-Louis David in 1797-1801.
In 1806-1824 and 1835-1841 he lived and worked in Italy, mainly in Rome and Florence (1820-1824).
Director of the School of Fine Arts in Paris (1834-1835) and the French Academy in Rome (1835-1840). In his youth, he studied music professionally, played in the orchestra of the Toulouse Opera (1793-1796), and later associated with Niccolò Paganini, Luigi Cherubini, Charles Gounod, Hector Berlioz and Franz Liszt.
