 🖌️🎨 Hugo Wilhelm Kauffmann (1844-1915) was a German genre painter.
The son of the landscape and genre painter Hermann Kauffmann (1808-1889), he first studied at the Städel Institute in Frankfurt am Main under the guidance of J. Becker, and then, for a short time, at the Düsseldorf Academy. From 1863 to 1871 he worked in Kronberg on the Taunus, improved for a year and a half in Paris; in 1874 he settled in Munich.
Subtle observation, healthy humor, excellent characterization of the scenes depicted and the characters in them make up the merit of his paintings, pleasant in colors and plots.
