✍️ William Saroyan (1908-1981)

✒️"I thought I was going to marry her. I kept imagining what kind of children we would have. The third one was my favorite. The first two were wonderful. Beautiful and charming and smart, but this third one was like no one else. Quiet, and so... silly. I really liked him. When she told me she was getting married, I didn't regret the first two, I only regretted this third one."
✒️"To become yourself, you need to rehearse a lot."
✒️"If there are people who tell you that family happiness is the end, if they say that it makes you dull, that it gives you nothing good - neither strength nor knowledge - do not believe them: they have not experienced happiness.
If they tell you: kisses are for fools - answer: this is a lie.
If they tell you: adoration is for fools - call them sons of bitches and say that they are lying.
They will tell you: tenderness is weakness - and you answer: you are not men.
They will tell you: pain is greater than pleasure - answer: no, just the opposite."
✒️"Nobody in the world knows what he wants. He wants and that's it. He looks at God. He says to him: give me this, give me that, but he is still not satisfied. Always wants something. Always unhappy.
And what can the poor God do? He has nothing to quench his sorrow. He gave man the whole world, the sunlight, his mother, his father, his brother, his sister, his uncle, his relatives, his house, his estate, his stove, his table, his bed - the poor God gave everything he had, but no one became happy.
Everyone, like your boy who is sick with the flu, says: give me a bun, a bun with raisins. - The grocer paused to take a good breath. Noisily exhaling, he shouted to the customer: - No buns! No buns with raisins!.."
✒️"The world is people, and people too touching to hate."
✒️"The more we wait, the less we can expect."
✒️"A good man cannot die. You will see him more than once. On the street. In houses. Everywhere. In the vineyard and in the orchard, in the river stream and in the clouds, in everything that makes the world desirable for us.
You will feel him in everything that gave birth to love, in everything that was created for love, in every kind of abundance, in everything that grows. The man himself, his living image, can leave us, he can be taken away from us, but the best that was in him remains. Remains forever."
✒️"Love is immortal and gives immortality to everything that surrounds us. But hatred dies every minute."
