🖌️🎨Vida Gabor (1937-1999)

🖌️🎨Vida Gabor (1937-1999) is a Hungarian painter and master of genre compositions.
The artist was born on January 24, 1937 in Budapest.
His mother was an opera singer and a member of the Royal Hungarian Opera, his father was an architect.
In 1947, his parents noticed that Gabor was able to accurately reproduce classical music on the flute solely by ear.
He was considered a child prodigy and was accepted to the “Ferenc Liszt music academy” (Franz Liszt Conservatory). There, Vida became a student of Professor Ferenc Hochstrasser.
Gabor gave many concerts as a soloist in the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra in Hungary and in many European countries.
In 1950, he began painting.
In 1961, Vida Gabor gave up his career as a flutist, to which he devoted 16 years of his life.
In 1974, he created the animated film “Tom Thumb” for Mafilm.
He also worked as a sculptor, jeweler and restorer of antique watches.
In 1977, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting. He carefully prepared his canvases and developed his own unique style, painting without a visible trace of the brush.
Vida Gabor is a self-taught artist, however, by studying existing styles and methods of painting, he designed and made his own set of thin brushes and tools. The technique he used in painting is called glazing.
It takes months to create a painting in this way.
The artist's favorite motifs are genre (night or evening) scenes of Europe of the 18th-19th centuries. Vida Gabor draws the viewer into her world, where reality is inextricably linked with fantasy.
The master has a soft, delicate manner in depicting genre scenes, subtle lyricism and a poignant feeling of sadness in almost every one of his creations.
Today, Vida Gabor's works are of great interest to collectors in Europe and America. The artist's works are in the Gallerie Amsterdam in Carmel (California) and in private collections.
