 🗿Sculptures-portraits of Philippe Faro

Philippe Faraut (born 1963) is a French teacher, sculptor, furniture designer and woodcarver.
Philippe received a degree in woodcarving and French fine furniture making in his hometown of Annecy, France.
A keen traveler, Philip studied the cultures of many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, which ultimately influenced his work in portraiture.
After moving permanently to the United States in 1992, he showed interest in modeling clay heads.
Philippe Faro created numerous original works from fifteen centimeter porcelain figurines to monuments made of stone, clay and bronze. He has exhibited his sculptures in various galleries and participated in national competitions, including several annual exhibitions of the National Sculpture Society.
Faro is an artist who specializes in creating life-size sculptural portraits in clay and marble. From his systematized extensive studies of human anatomy, he developed a portrait modeling technique, which he shares with his students during numerous seminars. In addition, Philip, driven by his curiosity, studied forensic reconstruction and is now able to recreate the image of a real person from bones.
To help his students, Philip has created numerous sculpting guides, instructional videos, and two books detailing his process for creating clay sculptures.
And it is not at all surprising that his work can be admired endlessly. Because each of his sculptures looks much more alive and emotional than any person. Eyes, hair, lips, every wrinkle, every fold - all his works delight in realism.
The sculptures range in size from six-inch porcelain figurines to imposing monuments.
Philippe Faro strives in his works to create the illusion of reality, improving the technique of anatomy, hair and drapery.
