 🖌️🎨 Adolph Tidemand (Norwegian: Adolph Tidemand; 1814 - 1876) - Norwegian artist, author of canvases dedicated to historical themes, landscapes, master of portraiture.

Adolf was born into a family of a customs officer. He studied drawing first with a private teacher, then in Oslo and in Copenhagen (1832-1837).
From 1833 he attended the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. In 1835 and organized his first exhibition within the walls of the Academy.
In 1837-1841 he continued his studies in Düsseldorf. The works created in the late 1830s - early 1840s gradually won him recognition as a master of painting in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
In 1841, A. Tidemand, together with his brother Emil, left for Italy to perfect his artistic style. He spent the years 1842-1845 traveling around Norway, during which he painted several canvases.
In 1845, Tidemand married Claudia Jaeger and, together with his wife, left for Dusseldorf. In the 1850s, the artist received many orders, including from the King of Sweden and Norway Oscar II (the series "Peasant Life" for the Oscarshall castle, 1852).
In 1867, the artist participated in the World Exhibition in Paris. Since 1869 - Honorary Professor of Arts at the Dusseldorf Academy.
A. Tidemand is known as a realist artist who was not afraid to pose acute socially critical questions in his works.
More than 100 paintings by A. Tidemand are kept in the National Museum of Art in Oslo.
