🎩Charlie Chaplin (5)

Charlie Chaplin had four wives, but about only one he wrote: “She is not only my love, my wife and the mother of my children. She is my refuge."
He met aspiring actress Una O'Neill during a casting for his new film. She was 18, he was 54.
Daughter of a Nobel laureate, Jerome Salinger's first love. She was friends with Jacqueline Kennedy and Truman Capote.
Thin, with huge black eyes that filled half of her face and a radiant smile, she became the prototype for the main character of the novel “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Chaplin was conquered - they got married just six months later. She gave up her career to devote herself to home and family.
They had 8 children. The last one appeared when Chaplin was 73.
“One evening I saw my parents dancing an impromptu tango all alone in the living room. He didn't take his eyes off her, and she didn't take her eyes off him. Noticing me, my father joked: “She took away the best years of my life!” - recalled their son Michael.
Charlie became completely paralyzed at the age of 85. Una refused the help of nurses and took everything upon herself: “When I was young, Charlie took care of me. Now it’s my time to look after him.”
Every day, in any weather, she put him in a wheelchair, wrapped him in a blanket and took him for a walk to the embankment.
An unequal marriage with a difference of 36 years, in which no one believed, lasted 34 years. Charlie Chaplin died at 88, Oona survived him by 14 years and never remarried.
